Comment
The argument is generally clear if rather simplistic and is supported by quotations, although not always the most appropriate ones. The expression is too informal in places, which results in the analysis being less precise than it might be. There is some focus on aspects of language, such as the mention of the images of Gremio’s house, but a greater sense of how Shakespeare has crafted particular ideas would help. There is some attempt to relate the ideas to context but it is rather clumsy, and the conclusions are a little too general. Finally, whilst there is superficial reference to feminist theory it is not sufficiently developed, and there is little further comment on alternative interpretations.
To improve the answer:
- Improve the vague or loose expression – there is a lot of repetitive vocabulary and some informality, which hinders ideas.
- Develop alternative interpretations, for example by considering that Petruccio may have other motives.
- Improve references to social or political contexts by linking closely to what happens in the text.
