Comment

The answer addresses several aspects of the question, except social position. There is a clear appreciation of the differences between the characters and their situations with some useful and appropriate reference. There is good use of details with some extended comment, particularly regarding Charlotte. A little thin on explanation in places.

For an A grade

  • Provide some comment on attitudes to position in society.
  • Use more ‘linking’ words, such as by contrast, so as connect ideas more effectively.
  • Avoid drifting into merely describing character; focus on ideas.
